Shady Mouneer: Guest preacher this weekend
Shady Mouneer, the Egyptian director of the Alpha-course in this country, will preach in our congregation on Friday 30 September. Do not miss this chance to listen to this gentleman who has been such a blessing to so many churches in this land!
I came across a nice old photo of Shady. He is the young bloke in the middle. He is a bit older now, fear not!

Cleaning campaign
We are still in the clean-out mood... this afternoon we went through 100s of very old and dusty books in the church's garage. There were some valuable music books and prayer books, but why keep old issues of - Gof forbid - Reader's Digest? Or very old and outdated chemistry books?
We have also agreed about much old wood that we will do away with. Away with trash and let us use our storage space well!
Today I spoke with Maged Adel of Better Life whether they can use two rooms that are connected to the church hall. One is used thus far for some cupboards for the different congregations that use our church, and for some of those who rent space. But there are too many cupboards now, so we need to move those to a larger room.

Next week start of Men's Evening Out
On Tuesday 4 October from 6.30-8.30 pm, we start with our Men's Evening Out events. Every two weeks we, men only, will meet to eat, read and pray. We will use J.I. Packer's book Knowing God as our guidebook. The 'skipper' for our meetings is Andre Leitao.
All men warmly welcome! We will meet in my office on our St Michael's compound. Will make sure Howayda is around to make us hamburger and sausages.
Please come and enjoy these evenings with us! I have about 8 copies of the book of Packer in my office. If paying LE 80 upfront is too much, we can create loan-repayment-schemes :-)

Who we are, what we do
Hello friends! This blog will be the place to find out about the people of St Michael's Anglican Church in Heliopolis, Cairo. On our website you can find more static information about us, but on this blog we hope to enable you to follow our daily life as a congregation.
St Michael's English congregation shares the building with two Egyptian and one Sudanese Anglican congregations, so you may find some information about those every now and then. Our focus, however, will be on the brand new English-language congregation.
On Saturday 24 September I was installed as the priest-in-charge of the four Anglican congregations of St Michael's. On the photo you see the bishops Ghais and Mouneer who installed me. The person on the left is Emad, who was ordained a deacon in the same worship service. I am the one on the right. I stand beside bishop Mouneer.

My goodness.

Even ontbijten...
